Groupe Unigesco was honoured to contribute to the modernization of the Saint-Lambert Lock No. 1, a key component of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Commissioned by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC), this project strengthened the efficiency and reliability of maritime infrastructure that is critical to North American trade.
The work carried out included:
Relocation of electrical equipment: moving systems out of existing galleries to optimize accessibility and maintenance.
Construction of four new technical buildings: delivering modern facilities for electrical systems, meeting today’s safety and performance standards.
Site mobilization began in June 2024, with major construction completed by December 2024. The final stages — including waterproofing, paving, and landscaping — extended into the spring of 2025, marking the successful completion of the project.
This initiative highlights Unigesco’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable solutions while reinforcing the resilience of the St. Lawrence Seaway, a vital corridor for freight transportation across North America.
